Monogamy ends here.

Up until now I've been a monogamous knitter. One WIP at any one time. But the Harry Potter scarf has driven me to it. I just finished casting on and knitting the first repeat of the Irish Hiking Scarf.

There's been a bit of a lag in my knitting for the past 10 days. A horrible virus landed me in the hospital ward run by the uni, and despite the fact my housemates cheered me up by bringing my package of yarn to visit (surely that's when you know you're obsessed?!?) I just haven't felt up to knitting until today. Though that has just made this cast on feel all the sweeter.

Stocking up

There's something about spending money on yarn first thing in the morning. A worryingly effortless procedure. I bought the wool for Zeeby's bag, and the Irish Hiking Scarf. I chose Sirdar for both, Bonus DK for the bag and Countrystyle DK for the scarf.

The endless Harry Potter scarf knit continues... and continues!

Musings

The second Harry Potter scarf is moving along... a bit slower than the first I'm afraid. I just feel pretty bored by the whole process now. The fact that it consists of knitting only doesn't help - at least if I were actually creating the stocking stitch I might be slightly more interested.

So the boredom has set me thinking about what I'm going to make next. I feel like I'd quite like to make something for me... I don't think in all my time of knitting that I'd ever made anything for myself so it seems like the time has finally come. So I think I've decided on Zeeby's bag from SNB, and the Irish Hiking Scarf that I seem to be seeing in loads of places. I feel the time has come for me to tackle cables. Everyone keeps telling me they look far more complicated than they actually are. Here's hoping!

Happy New Year!

Well I'm feeling a little sleepy... but accomplished. I just cast off the first Harry Potter scarf.

HURRAH!!!

And to the amazement of my parents I proceeded to pick up the end of the ball of yarn and cast on the next. No time like the present methinks.
